Timeless Style

Design Challenge: Client wanted the kitchen enlarged but kept thinking she had to rework the existing space.Solution: I suggested to reposition the kitchen to the back of the home, where the dining room was and move the dining room to the existing kitchen area.

A view from the dining room into the existing kitchen. The client wanted a pantry closet – when I moved the kitchen I was able to create a walk in pantry by the stairs to the basement. Constructing the pantry walls on an angle provided some privacy from the living area.

View shows the entrance to the kitchen from the front door of the home. Removing the wall helped to create the grand great room.

The client loved the Bay window that over looked her garden and I took that as my cue for the design solution. We shortened the window so we could position the sink below.

You did a nice job in figuring out my ‘style.’ Since we were on a tight time constraint and I had other projects in the house I was overseeing, I liked that you gave me a couple of choices I could choose from instead of showing me everything, which would have been overwhelming. —Carol K., Centennial, Colorado
